Gym Monitor Duties
Please print these and take two minutes to read the Gym Monitor Duties sheet before you get to the gym. These are important so the games start on time and we have all the proper information on the score cards. We must make sure the time keepers and score keepers are at the score table as soon as the previous game has ended.
-
Gym Monitors are for specific games, not specific times. If the games are behind schedule, please know you are still responsible for your designated games.
-
Gym Monitors must wear the red Gym Monitor jackets found hanging up as you enter the gym or in the small closet across from the bleachers. You must sit by the front door at the table.
-
Gym Monitors will ask the coaches as they enter the gym for their player roster with names and numbers in numerical order and you will need to fill out the score sheet in numerical order prior to the end of the previous game. Score sheets are found on the clipboard hanging on the railing as you enter the gym behind the table. You may find the coaches practicing outside so you may need to look for them. Please take the completed roster directly to the score table as prior game ends. Also, advise the home team coach they need to have a trained timekeeper at the score table as soon as the previous game has ended and they will also be saying the team prayer. This is very important to keep all the games on time.
-
Please introduce yourself to both referees at the first possible chance.
-
-
Gym Monitors should direct teams waiting for the next game to a safe area out of contact with the teams currently playing.
- The monitor should assist a smooth exit of teams finishing and help teams coming in for the next game. Please pick up all debris in the bleachers from the previous game. Again, make sure the completed scorecard, the scorekeeper and timekeeper are at the score table as soon as the previous game has been completed.
-
Conflict Resolution: The monitors and referees are to require the coaches to immediately address any conflicts or poor sportsmanship on the court or in the stands. If necessary, coaches are to instruct the perpetrator to leave the gym. All conflict is to be noted on the back of the scorecard for that game by the Gym Monitor. Any problems should be reported to the monitors who replace you.
-
Teams should be encouraged to clean up bench before exiting (take water bottles, etc.)
-
A First Aid Kit is located at the scorekeepers table. Contact appropriate authorities (911) for any emergencies.
If you have any questions ask the referee for help.
If there is a major problem that can t be fixed or resolved,
call Jim Mattison at 925-698-1590.
